Barely Baseplate

Get all the functionality of rails in a ridiculously-small package

Not everyone needs a gigantic rig. If you want a low-profile rails setup that's strong, light, and very very tiny, the Barely Baseplate is for you. We took the concept of a DSLR baseplate and distilled it down to its minimal core. We shaved away all unnecessary material and figured out how to clamp your camera and your rails with just one clamp. Simple, elegant, functional, not designed to get noticed.

Upgrades and Accessories

The Barely Baseplate is a minimalist 15mm DSLR baseplate that attaches directly to your camera or quick-release plate for creating a low-profile rig. Provides for attachment of two 15mm rails, and includes a 1/4-20 bottom plate for tripod use. It has an integrated, toolless clamp.

Quite simply, the simplest rails around. Also available with our Carbon Rods in a package deal called the Barely Rig.

Why It's Awesome:

  • Very small and packable, no excuse not to have a rod system in your bag. Combined with our Follow Focus, it makes for one of the tiniest systems available.
  • Low-profile design makes for a great run and gun style rig.
  • Versatile - can be used to attach accessories to your rig. Think handles, audio recorders, anything with a 1/4-20 threaded hole.
  • Made in the USA (perhaps not a feature to everyone but we enjoy making stuff and we're glad we get to do it.)

More Than Just A Baseplate:
You can also use the Barely Baseplate to attach anything with a 1/4-20 hole to your rails. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Flip it upside down to mount a wireless mic to the bottom of your rig
  • Easily add rails to your quick-release plate
  • Add rails to the top of your cage or fig rig

Here's What You'll Find In the Box:

  • (1) Barely Baseplate with integrated tripod plate that is Arca-Swiss compatible
  • (1) Allen wrench

Compatibility and Considerations:

  • Rods are close to camera body, so may not work with mattebox or lenses that stick past the bottom of the camera unless you use some kind of riser block.
